[The video starts rolling with Cassandra peering intently into the camera, knowing she'll have some sort of audience. She may not exude any sort of insecurity in the way she looks at the feed, but she does seem curious enough. She's been around, watching people be pirates ~~and being one herself~~. But now that that's all finished with, she can finally address the group at large.

The trouble is that Cass has never been much of a talker. She's not going to get any better in front of several strangers.

Instead of shying away from the prospect, however, she does her best. She lifts a hand in greeting.]

I'm Cassandra. I'm a new warden here.

[A warden without an inmate, since she doesn't add anyone onto her description just yet.]

I'm still...learning this place. [Seeing, knowing where to go.] I'll get it eventually.

[She found the gym, what more do you people want.]

But I'm here to help. And...I'll be around.

Yeah. They're not nearly as bad as some ports, but I don't think too many people died this time around. [ Implying, of course, that usually lots of people die in port ]

[...Steph. Dying is bad. Why are you so calm about it.]

How often does this happen?

[There are so many other questions with that: Have you died again? Has Tim or Dick? What are we doing to stop that?]

Every month or so. And then there are floods, which are more common but a lot less dangerous. Unless you get turned into a lamp, we've all agreed that could end pretty badly. [ HAHA IT'S FUNNY YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO LAUGH. :( ]

It's not a pleasant place to be. Some of the inmates are just thieves, but there are a lot of serial killers on board. Breaches... they don't change that. The only benefit is that we always come back.

[All of this is true and certainly something she's thought of. But the idea that people can die and come back, that Steph knows this for a fact, and that she's been here a year and a half 'minus some time' makes Cass distressed, though she doesn't show it besides a narrowing of her eyes.

She slaps an encryption up.]

Are you okay? Are all of you okay?

Yeah, we're fine. I'm fine. [ It was something she said, wasn't it. It's always something she said. ]

We all know how to handle ourselves in this sort of situation. Honest, it's the other people you should be worried about. [ The ones that haven't survived in Gotham for most of their lives. ]

[She believes her, slowly nodding. It's still a lot to take in.]

Does anyone know who we are?

[ Better to find out up front though, right? ]

Not collectively. [ She starts counting on her fingers. ] My friend Claire knows I'm Batgirl, my inmate knows the basics... I'm pretty sure everyone else knows we can all hold our own in a fight. Tim's doing the best job of keeping it a secret, I think.

[Tim would. He's the most cautious of all of them. And considering they've been there for so long, it's unsurprising.]

But no one's suspected.

[Good. Cass is just going to have the most difficult time, considering fighting is almost all she knows.]

You'd be surprised how many people don't ask questions. Everyone here has something going for them, I think, or the Admiral wouldn't pick them.

So we all have secrets.

[Huh.]

That's useful.

Also good to know? People usually don't remember details of this place when they go home. So even if we were compromised, there's no long-term damage!

[Okay, she nearly laughs at that one.]

That works.

[But then the reality of that somewhat...hits home.]

So we won't remember when we go home either.

Honestly, it kind of depends on the circumstances. I've gone home once or twice and remembered enough to know I needed to come back, but I'd planned the trip. Sometimes people just disappear with no warning. [ Wow and she was going to try to be comforting, too. ]

I mean, they just go home, safe and sound, but they might not remember to come back again.

[She was told about the leaving of your own volition part. That much is okay. But she didn't know about the disappearing.]

Does it happen often?

Not really. Most of the time people let you know they're leaving.

That's...good.

[She'll just have to keep her eyes out for the few who slip by without warning.]

[ Luckily she's not alone in that. ]

So hey, how about that tour?

I'd like that.

I'll show you the pool. It's pretty nice.
